This precious little boy has truly blessed our lives! His Mom, “Sophie” (see her story on Our Jennet page) had been badly abused before we rescued her, and it took her a long time to fully trust us and accept our love. Now she has a beautiful baby of her very own to love, and he dearly loves Mom, too! She is such a wonderful part of our family, and she and RW have a very special bond. Little Man is named in honor of a colt RW owned many years ago – it’s only fitting this perfect little guy has come into our circle of love!!

What a delightful little boy! Pearce, named for our good friend Pearce Bailey, is ALL BOY. This little bundle of joy was indeed a surprise!
Her Mom, Lucy, was purchased in November 2007 at the age of 14 months. We knew she was a “keeper” as soon as we saw her – a beautiful chocolate brown jenny with personality plus.
Imagine our UTTER surprise when we saw Lucy in the pasture with a brand new baby! We were stunned - she never appeared pregnant, and showed signs of estrus – we were looking forward to breeding her in 2009 when she reached 2 ½ years. Her former owners were shocked as well – long story short – she was bred at 9 months by her half-brother Peanut. We know this is a definite “no-no” – however, God blessed us with this amazing little jennet. I picked her up with one arm and carried her as RW led Lucy to the barn. Close examination revealed her perfect in every way, and Lucy is an incredible mother. She loves her baby with her heart and soul, yet welcomed us and our attention to them both. Her devotion to her baby rivals our most seasoned jennets. Fittingly, we named this bundle of joy High’s Summer Surprise! She thrived on Mom’s milk, love and attention, and at 8 weeks of age, was 22” tall and approx. 30 lbs. Her coloring is changing, and we believe she will be dark gray/brown like her parents. Summer is an active, alert, little girl whose favorite pastime is scattering Mom’s hay so they can eat! She has been featured in the October 2008 issue of Donkey Talk Magazine. We’re so proud of her, and especially proud of Lucy for being such a wonderful teenage Mom.
