What can we say about Maggie Mae!?!?! This little girl has grown into a precious young jennet & is pure love. She’s short, stocky, sweet & sassy, and adores hugs & kisses. A very active little “Lovebug”, Maggie blends exceptionally well with the other donkeys – a trait both her Mom Misty and Grandma Molly possess. She’s especially close to Sugar Cookie & they are always together. Maggie’s a doll!

There sweetness all over the farm, and Sugar Cookie is no exception!! Gentle & loving, she’s a beautiful, spunky young lady who discovered very early that she can “rule the barnyard” – even the older jennets pay attention to her! She has matured to a dark gray/brown with a black nose, and with spots & dark browns in her genes, she should produce beautiful foals. Sugar is a sweetie for sure!

We are so proud of this beautiful little jennet! The first foal of our Junior Herdsire Dusty, Taylor was also Mattie’s first baby. She is the spitting image of her Mom, and is named for the daughter of some wonderful friends of ours. Taylor has nice conformation, a great personality and loves attention. She is best friends with Candy, and they make a terrific duo! She’s a wonderful addition to our herd.

Our tiny baby is all grown up!!! Barely 15” tall at birth, this precious jennet has matured at 28”. Due to her small size, we will neither breed nor sell her, but she will remain with us as the “Little Darling” of our family. Summer may be tiny, but she holds her own with her feisty nature and “can-do” attitude. She is also one of our main “Donkey Ambassadors” and is a frequent visitor to churches, fairs and community events.

Brandy is a sweetheart. Delicate in stature, her very wide cross is compelling, and her disposition is wonderful. We don’t know anything about her background, but she’s a darling jenny, and her foals are as sweet and precious as she is.

Baylee is a petite girl and the daughter of Brandy. A very correct young lady, her long, upright mane is an attention-getter. She’s a loving jenny with a great attitude, and blends wonderfully with the other girls.

Sara definitely lives up to her “Sassy” name! With her sweet & loving personality and “screaming bray”, she’ll let you know exactly where she wants to eat “her” hay, and when she wants attention! Sara had her share of misfortunes (a rejected baby & a stillborn) but God finally blessed her with a healthy, perfect baby boy. She gets along well with the other girls and “buddies up” with any of them. She truly is a gift from God.

High’s Sweet Sophia

Sophie came to us in 2007 along with four other beautiful girls. When they arrived at our farm, we went to the trailer to make our final inspection. Four girls were perfect – healthy and trim with great conformation. Sophie was another matter. She was very thin, droopy ears, hair loss, long hooves, etc. We made the comment “we want these 4, but we don’t think this one will make it.” Immediately, she turned away, walked to the far end of the trailer and hung her head in the corner as if to say “It’s okay – I understand no one wants me.” Our hearts melted, the tears flowed, and we said “We’ll take her even if we don’t take the others!” All 5 came to live with us. We began working with Sophie – a hoof trim, wormer, good food and lots of TLC transformed her body. She began to hold her ears up (we later learned she had been used for practice roping!), she gained weight and slowly began to realize that somebody really did love her and she returned that love ten-fold. Today she is a beautiful, happy girl with a terrific disposition,and is a terrific Mom.

Wendy is a trim, correct young lady with a little attitude. Gentle but aloof, she loves attention but likes to play “hard to get”- just like her Dad! Her gray color is quite defined, and she has the personality and structure of both parents. Best friends with Sara, Wendy is barren & has never produced a foal, so unfortunately we’ll never know what a terrific Mom she could be. However, she’s a sweetheart, & we adore her.

OUR OTHER JENNETS

We also have three amazing brood jennets who consistently produce beautiful foals. All gray duns, Molly, Katie and Abby were our original purchase in 2005 (along with Jake). Molly, born in 2001, has a limited pedigree – we have no information about Katie and Abby, both born in 2002, but we love them dearly and know their wonderful history with us. The sweetest of all our herd, we can and do just about anything with these 3 girls. They’re great with the farrier, lead like pros, come when called – you name it, they do it. They are also inseparable – where one goes the other 2 go, whether it be to the pasture, barn, farrier, or in the trailer. All their foals have great conformation and gentle dispositions.

OUR NEW “HERD”

On March 5, 2009, we purchased 11 adult jennets, 2 jennet foals, and 1 jack foal. This group was a large part of the 40-Watt Donkey Farm herd owned by Mike & Jayne Larsh of Brady, Texas. Mr. Larsh passed away in January, 2009, and Jayne made the heart-rending decision to dissolve her herd. We know God intervened in all our lives when he blessed us with these precious creatures. They have a new loving home, we have a new friend in Jayne, and she takes comfort in knowing her babies are safe and happy.

All of these jennets are in wonderful condition. They have good conformations – nice round butts, well-defined heads, and all are so gentle-spirited. They get along great together, as well as with our other girls – what a tribute to the care by their former owners! We are delighted to have them in our herd. We enjoy them so much and are looking forward to having many beautiful foals from them.
